In this set of three pieces the improvised, found, and composed breathe within natural forms. They largely share instrumentation, modes, and root melodies, but each was worked on separately and found its own path. 

The titles have particular references, while hopefully resonating for themselves. All sounds were produced by plucked strings, vibrating metal, and breath in tube or throat. No keyboards or synthesizers were used in these recordings.

SWANRAD is my name for a path on the voyage that never ends, a way revealed only by our wake.

I set out in London on dub bass while absorbing contemporary composition.
Veering north, I settled on a remote fell of lapwings and curlews where I began to work at home, In Camera, on tape then laptop, finding music based on real sounds that ranges from song to soundscape - or seascape.


I set out playing bass and guitar in various London bands and studios, mostly reggae, dub, and lovers rock. At the same time I had the good fortune to absorb atonal techniques from a friend, an avant-garde composer, who remains an inspiration.
